HOW DOES A CAMERA WORK?
In Quarter 1 you will learn the basics of the DSLR camera, including the button layout, settings, and technical lingo. Assignments will be geared toward learning new knowledge about the features and functions of the camera while projects will be testing the uses of that knowledge hands-on. Additionally, Q1 will feature the history of early cameras and the construction of a Camera Obscura, one of the earliest forms of the camera.
WARM-UPS
For warm-ups this quarter we will be looking at work form the top 30 most famous photographers of all time. These photographers changed how the world perceived photography as an art form and means of expression. Many times these photographers challenge the very meaning of art and and what a photograph IS. For each image analyze the TECHNICAL, CREATIVE, AND IDEA of each image.

FAMILY PHOTO ESSAY
For this project we are going to jump right in! You will need to take a separate picture of every person and animal in your house (including you!). I want you to think about your shot before you take it, set it up, and really describe the people and places. For example, if you live with your grandpa and he is always on the couch I want a picture of him sitting on the couch eating or watching TV. I don't want all pictures of people smiling (fake pictures).

HISTORY OF THE CAMERA
In this assignment you will be looking over the history of the camera, how did the first cameras come to be? How has the camera developed in the last ten, twenty, hundred years. Who were the big names in photography that helped make it a worldwide phenomenon?
